Review: Endless Ocean: Blue World

The people who run Nintendo might want me to describe Endless Ocean: Blue World to you as the Wii’s second scuba-diving simulator. And it is. It is a vast simulation of scuba-diving and seal-life-spotting set in lovely locales around the world, all easily controlled with a Wii remote. But, sorry Nintendo marketing people, your secret isn’t safe.

This game is also a stealth role-playing game, a game with more than a hundred esoteric side goals, and enough obscure side quests that it makes Rune Factory Frontier look streamlined and the average Final Fantasy quest for ultimate weapons seem as simple as a walk to the mailbox.

Mario Pirate Agrees to Pay $1.3 Million

According to a report Tuesday in Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald, a man has agreed to pay Nintendo 1.5 million Australian dollars (or $1.3 million) for loss of sales revenue after he allegedly illegally copied and uploaded to the Web the New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii prior to the game’s Australian release last year.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Goes Episodic This Summer

Sega has taken the wraps off Project Needlemouse, and the publisher is positioning the game as a proper sequel to the series’ Genesis genesis and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, specifically. The publisher has released a new trailer for the game, revealing its official title: Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1.

Nintendo to Publish The Last Story, Mistwalker RPG

The Last Story, which Nintendo calls a “full-scaled RPG,” will be released for Wii this year. It is the next creation of Mistwalker, the role-playing game development studio started in 2004 by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. More information on the game will be available in March.

Nintendo also took the opportunity to detail another Wii RPG — Xenoblade, coming from Nintendo subsidiary (and Xenosaga creator) Monolith Soft. Set to launch this spring, it is another “full-scaled RPG.”
