Facebook-Xbox 360 Overlap Games Launch

You play a game on Facebook. I’ll play one on Xbox 360. Our winnings will contribute to the same side of a virtual reenactment of World War I. Behold, the first Facebook-360 gaming link, launching this week.

About 11,000 Facebook users are playing Match Defense: Toy Soldiers, a Microsoft Games Studios game quietly launched a couple of weeks ago. The game will link to Toy Soldiers (pictured up top), an Xbox Live Arcade game that launched Wednesday.

Heatwave Interactive, a Texas online game startup, is launching its Platinum Life Web Edition game as a beta test on Facebook. The game is a kind of music career role-playing game, where the player starts out as an aspiring hip-hop star.

Facebook Protest over Forbidden Words in Scrabble Dictionary

Until now an uneasy peace has prevailed between casual Scrabble players and their more serious competitive counterparts but the popularity of internet versions of the board game has caused the two cultures to clash.

Players who use websites such as Facebook have been incensed to discover that official word lists, which are compiled by competitive players, allow proper nouns, archaic terms, foreign words and slang that would have been forbidden when the game was first published in 1949 and may contravene present rules.

Dragon Age Gets a Gift from the Yeti

BioWare, as the developer, and Electronic Arts, as the publisher, have announced that they are releasing a new application, called Gift of the Yeti, on Facebook, which will be playable by all those who have an account and allows those who play it to get $10 off the price of a new copy of Dragon Age: Origins, when bought from the official web site of Electronic Arts.

The game is fun and interactive and can be experienced by players and everyone else in their social network.

Ohai Launches MMO Vampire Game on Facebook

Game startup Ohai is launching a new vampire-themed online world on Facebook as part of an attempt to snare more time and money from social network fans.

Ohai wants to take social games to the next generation by launching a massively multiplayer online game that will have synchronous play, meaning live games with constant movement and action.
