Review: KrissX

It takes a word-based puzzle game to come along on Xbox Live Arcade to make one realize just how few word-based puzzle games there are on the system. KrissX (pronounced like “kriss-cross,” not “kriss-ecks”) is a new word game based around unscrambling letters to form words.

New D&D Board Game Coming in August

“Castle Ravenloft” isn’t the first board game from D&D’s owners, Wizards of the Coast, but it is the company’s first to target the new-wave board game audience of the past decade (think German board games like Catan and Pandemic). D&D reps compared their new game to the latter in their announcement yesterday, describing the game as a “fast-paced,” hour-long take on the D&D formula.

Chess Master Faces Life in Prison

About two months after his capture in the Central American country of Belize, former fugitive, convicted sex offender and chess master Robert Snyder — author of the “Chess for Juniors” series — faces the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison after entering a guilty plea Friday.

EA Sports is launching a closed beta for its premier soccer franchise called EA SPORTS FIFA Online for the PC. Closed beta testing begins February 3rd, and open beta testing will begin in June.

Preview: SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3

Sony is very much looking forward to the latest entry in the franchise, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3. Yes, the third game in the Fireteam Bravo side of things, this PSP franchise seems to have slipped under the radar for a while. This is a shame, as some of the features seen here are even ignored in console titles. If you haven’t played a SOCOM title, it might be time to pay attention.

Lee Hyun Ki, once taking charge of the development of Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom and working as the development director of the MMORPG – Project T, has left Blueside and set up a new company specializing in game development.

Star Wars RPG Saga Ends Again

Wizards of the Coast, the publishers of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game Saga Edition and Star Wars Miniatures announced on Thursday, January 28, that they will not be renewing their license with Lucasfilm for the Star Wars properties.

PlatinumGames Announces Vanquish

When Sega introduced PlatinumGames to the world in May of 2008, the publisher announced that it would be handling the studio’s first four titles: MadWorld, Bayonetta, Infinite Space, and a then-untitled game from Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami. That game finally has a name, as PlatinumGames posted a teaser trailer for the Mikami-directed Vanquish on its Web site.

GTA4 DLC Finally Arriving on PS3 and PC in March

Gay Tony and Johnny Klebitz are no longer going to be exclusive to the Xbox 360 version of Rockstar’s legendary Grand Theft Auto IV. The publisher has revealed its plans to release both The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned as downloadable content packs on March 30th for the PC and PlayStation 3. In addition to being available in digital form, the Episodes from Liberty City retail disc will also be arriving at the same time.
